At the sector level, apart from the Nifty Metal index which closed up nearly 5%, the Nifty Oil and Gas index (+2.6%), the IT index (+1%) and the Nifty FMCG index (+0.6%). percent) were the other stars. On the other hand, the Nifty Auto and Bank indices were the hardest hit, down 0.7% each.

The Indian rupee ended down 21 paise at 74.77 to the dollar on Tuesday against Monday’s close at 74.56.

Mohit Nigam, Head – PMS, Hem Securities, said: “Benchmarks bounced off the daily low on Russian-Ukrainian talk hopes and closed on a positive note on February 28 with Nifty +0, 81% and Sensex +0.70%. Most Asian markets ended on a positive note today. Significant buying is seen today in Metals, Oil & Gas and Power stocks, while some pressure was seen in Auto stocks. Hindalco and Tata Steel were the top Nifty 50 gainers while HDFC Life and Dr Reddys were the top Nifty 50 losers today.”

“We believe these volatile markets provide investors with a good opportunity to accumulate quality stocks in the dips. Technically, immediate support and resistance for Nifty 50 are 17,000 and 16,500 respectively. Support and Immediate resistance for Bank Nifty is 35,600 and 36,800 respectively,” he added.
