LeBron James trading card sold at auction for over $2 million

A trading card of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been auctioned for $2.4 million.

James’ unique Panini Flawless Triple Logoman 2020-21 features integrated segments of the jerseys worn by the 37-year-old from his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.

The map was auctioned by the collectibles and memorabilia market goldin.

$2.4 million spend is lower than record fee for sports trading card

It had been predicted that the sale could break the all-time record for a sports trading card, which is a Honus Wagner baseball card that cost $6.6 million in 2021.

Panini’s 2020-21 Flawless release included five Triple Logoman cards, consisting of three-star player patches, though James is the only card that features three player patches.

The other four cards include patches from Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry; Draymond Green, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson; Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and Tyrese Haliburton, and Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson.
