Sacramento Kings ready to trade No. 4 overall pick

NBA draft rumours: According to a recent report, the Sacramento Kings are ready to trade the No. 4 overall pick in the draft.

It has been 16 years since the Sacramento Kings made the NBA playoffs for the last time. The hope was that they could end that decade-plus streak this season, but that hasn’t exactly happened. Instead, the Kings will once again be drafted into the top 5.

Or, at least, that’s the expectation. The Kings will have the No. 4 overall pick ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft. But there’s no guarantee they’ll keep that pick. According to a recent reportthe Kings might be willing to trade the No. 4 pick they currently own.

It’s no surprise the Kings are open to trading the pick. They desperately need a change that could alter the trajectory of the franchise. At least for now, there’s no guarantee the Kings are headed in the right direction.

That’s the hope, but considering the Kings haven’t made the playoffs in nearly two decades, it’s hard to assume this build will result in success. The Kings are expected to demand – and no pun intended – a royal ransom for the No. 4 pick.

Sacramento isn’t in a place where it might consider the No. 4 pick a luxury. If there’s any chance they could flip that pick for a disgruntled star or for what they consider to be something more valuable, they should definitely jump at the idea.

The Kings are coming off a season in which they finished with the fourth-worst record in the Western Conference. They don’t seem close to breaking into the West and because of that, everything should be on the table for this team this offseason. Including the trade of the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
